Continuity Editing Exercise

* What scenario were you asked to work to?

The scenario for this is to walk down the corridor , open the door and there will be another person in the room. Most of the action will be on both the characters in the room.

*What were the key media language skills you were trying to demonstrate?

Whilst the two people were talking we was in need of an effective way of presenting them , therefore we proceeded with the ; Shot Reverse Shot. This shot consists of action being potrayed from one point of view then to the other point of view.

Another shot we used in our work was the over-the shoulder shot. This shot is where only one point of view from the action is shown. Therefore it will be over the shoulder of the person who in-front  of another character.

180 degree rules , match on action , rule of thirds.
180 degrees rule defines when the camera  action can only be on one side of the 360 degree. So meaning it can only be shot on a 180 degrees circumference.

Match on action is where you shoot all the action through out the way. For example if you kick a door then you will see the other side being kicked aswell.

The Rule of Thirds.
fig1 Imaginary lines are drawn dividing the image into thirds both horizontally and vertically. You place important elements of your composition where these lines intersect , usually eyes .  Using the Rule of Thirds helps produce nicely balanced easy on the eye pictures.

*Who Did I work with to plan and film?

During Planning I orginally worked with Ella Linay and then as the project progressed we had a new addition to the group . However only during filming was Girtaj's input significant.  Also a co-worker as an actor featured called Aleemos Kumar otherwise known as 'Gucci'.

* How successful was this grouping?

The grouping was immensely successful due to the fact that me and Gurtej have a very good understanding on and off the screen. Also Ella and me have a very good relationship therefore working together was very easy.

* How did you use your creativity to develop the scenario ?

We used a large amount of creativity in our piece , for example. I used many ideas such as me running instead of walking , me walking into the room with two body guards instead of myself and finally whilst i was getting thrusted onto the chair i could have simply sat down.

How useful was your storyboard? What did you change and what did you stick to?

Our storyboard was the main route to our success for this production. This is because we did not change anything from our storyboard theirfore all the actions and words were extremely useful as i directly extracted them into the production.

Here are pictures of my storyboard;
