Looking for eric

Film four show their ideology through the representation of the characters in many ways. One of them is that the characers are from England it-self . From manchester and this is easily recognisable via the accent which is the regional identity for manchester people. This foreshadows film 4 ethic of homegrown actors. As a lot of people would not have known the main character in the film. However giving him a chance to shine. Also the younger kids are inolved in a big part of the film , this is also giving the youth a part in the media which film 4 have empathised on in recent years.  The representation of places by film 4 is fantastically done in this film. It shows the run down area of manchester. The sort of un-varnished background is used to create the effect of poverty in this film , and many other films in which film 4 have co produced or produced. Because they mainly act to show a morale or a view in films and they do it effectively by presenting england as 'gritty' and almost as if it is a tough place to live. Which links to the storyline of this film as the main character himself is having such a tough time in his life , because he is mentally un-stable and fantasises of a footballer during times of the day. For an audience to intepret that , they will indeed think he is mental or maybe even mislead to thinking he is  homosexual etc.



                                                                     Four lions

To start off with ; Four lions is a comedy on a group of  Young muslim men who aspire to be Jihadi's. However they got the wrong concept of Jihad itself , which is only a muslim gesture , but in their case they believe taking part in a terrorist act is the best way to do their Jihad. Firstly one way that film 4 have represented their ideology is through the characters. Kavan Novak ( Face jacker) and Riz Ahmed were up and coming actors during the production of this film. Film 4 took the opportunity to make this film recieve a lot of audience by advertising stupidity basically. However this has now become the actors stepping stone in a way , because film 4 again are a widely supported group and many people watched four lions and now recognise the 4 actors (otherwise known as the four lions ) as good and funny actors. Therefore film 4 are playing the role of producing great films aswell as producing new british talent very effectively aswell as cost effectively.

The representation  of places via four lions , is that most of the film is shot in Sheffield and around the birmingham area of England. Therefore they do have accents , also another representation is that they are obviousely asian and muslim . This gives four lion the chance to show that they are a film production company who show all different types of culture and brings awareness towards it.

                      The film is set in Wales and this is shown through the country side locations and the strong welsh accent. This is slightly different from the other 2 films. This appeals to a larger audience with in the United kingdom. This just shows that film four have looked at the big picture and are covering all tyes of aspect in a normal english , british , welsh or even scottish life as they can relate . First of all there are a few british cultural references , for example the mentioning of "french crooners". A british band. Also there are a lot of again un-varnished run down and derelict  area's in this giving wales and the UK that gritty and tough look. However in this film it was seen as more playful and romantic the scenery of the gritty areas. 

                    

                                                               Inbetweeners The Movie

This film is first of all set in England. It is the based on the tv series 'Inbetweeners'. The boys have a strong cockney accent , again this is not like the other film 4 films. Due to the fact when people go to cinema's to view a film 4 film  they do not recieve much experience , if anything it will make their lives more gloomier. However this is one of the funniest british films of the decade . However it does potray the british social realism in a way which is the ethos of film 4 , because the 4 boys go on a holiday to Malia. The country is kmown for booze drinking , sex and partying madness. it is extremely highly likely for boys when they finish their a-levels to go on a holiday such as malia. The main 4 characters are all white , showing that is almost sort of a white boy ritual to go to malia. This can relate to a lot of boys around the UK . The british cultural references are all embedded in the boys language , also the whole fact they are making the trip foreshadows the britihs cultural reference anyway.

                                                                Attack of the block

This film is set in south london . again film 4 are presenting the social realism. With children stealing people's phones and being violent with their gangs. Also the use of a gun is foreshadowing the fact that a lot of estate's are run down and un-varnished towards the public in the film. Aswell as in real life . There are a lot of british cultural references , such as fried chicken and the slang language the youthful children are using. Overall this doesnt represent the film 4 ethos as much as the other films do as people do criticise saying it is not a 'serious' film.
